COREEN PAUL

Coreen is an Inuit of Labrador.

She grew up in the small town of North West River (Striver) but spent her summers salmon fishing with her family in Rigolet.

She grew up practicing traditions of hunting, fishing and trapping with her father. Snowmobiling was a big part of her everyday life during the long winters. It wasn’t a recreational sport; it was more of a necessity for travel and harvesting food. Coreen has an exciting passion for adventure in the backcountry of Labrador and has enjoyed many long distance snowmobiling trips with her friends and family.

She also served as a Canadian Ranger for 15 years where she trained in wilderness survival, search and rescue techniques and map/compass and GPS. Experience such as this over her life has built her strengths to test during endurance snowmobiling races.

In 2012, she became the first female to ever enter and finish the Cain’s Quest Snowmobile Endurance Race along side her husband Jason.

In 2020, she entered the race once again with another female and they became the first all-female team to finish. Coreen currently resides in New Brunswick with her husband and two children and works as a Health and Safety Manager, which is another passion of hers.
