Bear Cub Camp
by Farron Cahoon
In the heart of British Columbia's majestic mountains, young Tony embarks on a thrilling horseback adventure with his family. Together, they ride through lush forests, alongside crystal-clear mountain streams, and camp under the stars. But the beauty of nature soon gives way to excitement when they encounter a mysterious old cabin in a meadow and hear strange sounds in the night.
When Tony investigates, he discovers a small black bear trapped in a tree, making strange cries for its mother. But things take an unexpected turn when Tony realizes that the bear is just a curious cub—and that its confusion about Pepper, Tony's horse, could mean trouble. As the cub approaches, Tony is gripped with fear, unsure if its protective mother is nearby. But just as quickly as it appeared, the cub scurries off, leaving Tony to reflect on his incredible experience in the wilderness.
This thrilling tale of adventure and nature culminates in a special moment for Tony, when he returns home and receives his name, "Wandering Bear," marking the unforgettable journey that will stay with him forever.
